Fish Tips
When can I start feeding my fish?
May 7, 2003
|
Fish should not be feed until the water in the pond stays a constant 55 or better.
When the water is cold, the digestive system of the fish shuts down. If the fish eat, they will not
digest the food. This could cause them to become very ill and maybe die.

Boy or Girl Koi?
May 1, 2003
|
Female Koi tend to have rounder bodies along with rounder and somewhat smaller pectoral fins.
Males are sleeker and tend to be larger with pectoral fins that have very distinct points.
Older male's gill plates have a sandpaper-like raspiness.
Males tend to have the more brilliant colors.
The easiest way to tell the males from the females is during the spring spawning season.
The males will be chasing the females around the pond.
